After a mid-afternoon tornado that actually nearly blew me away, Paramore take to a rainy Warped Tour stage at the Miami seaside...
That's no exaggeration too. So, it was the middle of the day and the band that were setup next to The Automatic's tent that day (whose name i forget!) start packing their shit down and literally running away across the site. Now this band worked SUPER hard every single day. They were in a van and not a big tour support budget so they hussled from first thing to late at night out with ipods and headphones getting kids to listen to their CD and buy them. So as they run, they tell us that there's a tornado warning and we should get the hell out of there... 'what a bunch of losers' we think... then just about half the crowd leaves. just walks right out (no re-entry) and this is all about 3pm. So as the wind picks up we think we should start packing some shit up and everyone carries a box each and we take all the merch back to the bus (which is parked right on the Miami waterfront and it looks amazing). So whilst we're doing this we start getting shit blown all over us as there as 2 skyscrapers that aren't yet finished over looking the park where the show is that day, and all the dust and crap inside them is getting blown out all over everyone... oh and then we saw the tornado. I've never seen a tornado before, and sure it was pretty small i'm sure in comparison to the grand tornado scheme of things, but still. tornado = FUCK! hahah. it just pops up between these buildings and the crane ontop of one of the buildings (about 100 stories above us) starts swinging round like mad and looks like it's gonna fly off. and then the tent blew away (which some kind folks caught for us hahah)
So yeah, all in all a pretty fun day! The tornado didn't kill everyone, of course, and just went away which nice. Then I went to shoot Paramore and it was great.
- Oh, and actually, I just remembered that at that night's afterparty I got attacked by an old vagrant man whilst i was lost and wandering the streets of Miami at 3am. He literally moonwalked across the road to me and tried to steal my phone. MIAMI IS A CRAZY PLACE!!! (storm youtube evidence is here. sort of hahah)
